After successful runs in Oslo and Tokyo, Norwegian Icons: Important Norwegian Design is making its way to New York. From May 23 until June 1, 201 Mulberry will be filled with over 500 pieces of high-end decorative arts and furniture created in Norway between 1940 and 1975. The grand opening reception will be held on Friday from 6PM-9PM and is open to all and everyone! The exhibition will open everyday from 11AM-7PM. Stop by and shop away!
The exhibit aims to bring focus to Norway’s contribution to mid-century Scandinavian design. Norway Icons displays Norway’s design history through exhibitions and catalogues. The catalogue that goes along with this exhibition features a selection of works by important mid-century Norwegian designers and explains their role in shaping this unique period in Norwegian design history.
Artwork by Norwegian artists will be the backdrop for the decorative arts and furniture, setting the mood and taking visitors back in time. Edvard Munch, one of the artists whose work will be on display, is a modern Norwegian artist whose pieces signify the modern breakthrough in Norwegian art history. There will also be a selection of work by other artists who have influenced Norwegian design and architectural tradition.
