Well, this is noteworthy: ABODE Pop Up Dinner Series Chef Gregg Drusinsky and his lovely homecook Sarah Ashley Schiear are on Team Lefebvre in ABC’s The Taste! Lefebvre, whom the New York Times calls the “impresario of pop-up dining” and the Post calls “king of pop ups,” guides Gregg and Sarah through the tough (and delicious) culinary challenges. At Openhouse, we’re betters, and we’re gonna go ahead and bet that Gregg and Sarah win. That’s a side note, though. But, do note it. (Noted.)
This weekend, Gregg and Sarah, close out their ABODE Pop Up Dinner Series at Openhouse’s The Old Bowery Station. With five intimate seatings Thursday through Saturday, this’ll be your last chance to dine with celeb chefs. What’s on tap? Five courses with complimentary pairing. Dishes include:
Course 1: Crostini with smoked dungeness crab, avocado, butternut squash, ricotta, pistachio oil, mushroom conserva, quail egg.
Course 2: Winter salad with cauliflower, tangerine, marcona almond.
Course 3: Roast chicken with charred-shallot relish, dijon w/house-made butter, fleur de sel and green olive tapenade.
Course 4: Crisp-roasted Brussels sprouts and fingerling potatoes with herbs, bacon and lemon.
Course 5: Buttermilk cakes with blood-orange vanilla bean custard, super-rich chocolate frosting, curried caramel sauce.
