Cupcake Cakewalk pop up POSTPONED featuring Alice’s, Billy’s, ChikaLicious, Duane Park, Robicelli’s + Sun in Bloom

Less than 24 hours after Cool Cravings, the all-natural dessert festival co-hosted by Clean Plates, we’ll be throwing a pop-up cupcake competition. Cupcake Cakewalk is a one-day pop up tasting that brings together some of the city’s best. You’ll get six cupcakes and one vote to declare your favorite in New York City. Is it Alice’s Tea Cup, Billy’s Bakery, ChikaLicious, Duane Park Patisserie, Robicelli’s or Sun in Bloom? German chocolate? Red velvet? Cookies ‘n’ cream or lemon lust? You decide, and the winner takes the (cup)cake and gets to show off its recipe in an upcoming issue of Edible Manhattan. We’re hosting the pop up Sunday from 2-8 pm.

Robicelli’s apricot chardonnay + mocha almond turtle + tres leches + funky monkey cupcakes.

For Cupcake Cakewalk, Openhouse tapped professional foodie Amanda Dell to pick the best cupcake artisans in the city. Dell is the culinary veteran who used to hold down Gramercy Tavern and recently coordinated Josh Ozersky’s massive Meatopia festival. For the pop-up competition, she selected Alice’s Tea Cup, the UWS/UES dessert and afternoon tea powerhouse; Billy’s Bakery in Chelsea, Tribeca and Nolita; ChikaLicious, inventors of the Dessert Club and Dessert Bar; French-inspired beautifully colorful Duane Park Patisserie; Robicelli’s, creator of the fried chicken cupcake; and Sun in Bloom, the Brooklyn-based gluten-free Clean Plates-approved restaurant with a sweet tooth.
