Can’t make it to Sundance? Movies at Park Here kicks off Wednesday with FilmBuff

Starting Wednesday January 25, Openhouse Gallery is partnering with digital entertainment curator FilmBuff, to bring fresh films to New York’s pop-up park. FilmBuff scours the film world to find original and emerging gems for movie lovers around the world. Come enjoy Movies at Park Here in the spacious pop-up park on plush grass, picnic blankets, oversized Fatboy bean bags and hammocks. We’ll bring the popcorn, Sambazon and Bella Lula and invite you to bring your own food and drinks, too.

As you fight the chilly temperatures outside, join Openhouse Gallery and FilmBuff for a park movie experience you won’t forget. Over three nights in January and February, we are bring you four fantastic films including the Sundance winning biopic Senna, festival favorite The Green, a thrilling look back at Ft. Green during its Spike Lee days with Brooklyn Boheme and PressPausePlay, the game-changing doc about how digital technologies revolutionize the way we create and indulge in art. For the full list of films and to purchase tickets, click here. SENNA: Wednesday January 25 at 7:30 pm
Ayrton Senna raced from the Brazilian favela to the high-falutin’ European Formula 1 tracks. The young, good-looking racer battles opponents, the Formula 1 chief and his French nemesis Alain Prost on his way to three championships. Lovely ladies and fiery crashes ensue. It’s an epic biopic about the monumental life and tragic death of a global celebrity in the 80s and won awards at Sundance, the Los Angeles Film Festival and British Indie Film Awards. THE GREEN: Wednesday February 1 at 7:30 pm
What happens when a gay teacher moves out of the city for a fresh start in the Connecticut suburbs? Not the easy bucolic life he expected. Instead, Michael is hit by allegations that he messed around with a student. The school and town turns against him in what seems like an old-school shakedown and his relationship begins to unravel. It’s a gripping story starting 30 Rock’s Cheyenne Jackson as well as Julia Ormond, Jason Butler Harner and Illeana Douglas. Writer and producer Paul Marcarelli will be in hand to chat about The Green. Get your tickets and nail down that oversized, comfy Fatboy.

BROOKLYN BOHEME: Tuesday February 7 at 7:30 pm
Fort Greene exploded in the 80s and 90s with Chris Rock, Spike Lee, Ol’ Dirty Bastard, Digable Planets, Erykah Badu, Branford Marsalis, Wesley Snipes, Rosie Perez, Talib Kweli, Saul Williams and other musicians, actors and writers. Director Nelson George tells the story of the cultural revival that influenced the entire nation. Special guests will be in appearance for a movie that’s not to be missed. Get your tickets here.

PRESSPAUSEPLAY; Tuesday February 7 at 9:30 pm
Take Fort Greene and multiply it by, oh, a hundred million iPhones, digital cameras, laptops, universal WiFi and get a global creative revolution. Directors David Dworsky and Victor Kohler present PressPausePlay, a documentary that explores the rapid, beautiful evolution featuring interviews with today’s most influential artists including Moby, Lykke Li, Seth Godin, Sean Parker, Robyn, Lena Dunham and more.
