Before the opening of his restaurant Huertas, Chef Jonah Miller will preview the Huertas dining experience with a pintxo popup at The Old Bowery Station. Guests will help themselves to a variety of pintxos (the diverse finger-foods of northeast Spain) that will line the bar. The pintxos will be served along with Spanish wine (one red and one white), beer and two Spanish ciders.
Both ciders are from the Asturias region (north-central Spain) and they will be served by Anthony Belliveau-Flores of Rowan Imports, an authority on Spanish cider who will be pouring his imports personally. Traditionally, the ciders are poured from a height with a slow trickle to create effervescence and enhance the flavor by aerating it.
To complete the evening, guests may also visit S2A, a former subway platform turned art space adjacent to the Old Bowery Station. Guests are invited to participate in “Fortune,” artist Annabel Daou’s ongoing divination project. In exchange for $10, Daou will transcribe what she reads on your palm onto a page for your keeping.
