We’re not violent, but killing winter is the best move we ever made. Honestly, the way winter stomps around the Northeast thinking it can take over everything in its path is just ridiculous. No more! Until Feb. 15, Park Here is warm, green, flowery, completely anti-winter and like the United States Postal Service (pre-internet), no sleet, snow, hail or toxic rock salt is going to stop us. Onto the next one!
Afternoon Tea @ The Park | Tuesday January 24
Afternoon tea is a delightful tradition born in England that died out around the Industrial Revolution. Once coffee started kickstarting the day and workers were expected to hit the factory from dawn til dusk, afternoon teas fell to the wayside. Well guess what? We’re bringing it back for a one-time-only Park Here exclusive. On Tuesday, January 24, Tea by Tiffany is bringing the party to Openhouse with four exquisite organic teas, a selection of sandwiches, biscuits, scones, petit fours and graceful service. The Afternoon Tea at the Pop-Up Park runs from 1 pm to 5 pm and will be a beautiful chance for you to leave the entire city behind for some good company and herbalicious tea.

Nerd Nite’s Trivia Night | Thursday February 2
Well before I joined the high school quiz bowl team, I was in love with trivia. From Trivial Pursuit to nightly Jeopardy to Encyclopedia Brown, the quick thrill of cognitive contests has always been alluring. Thursday night, February 2, we host Nerd Nite’s Trivia Night. There are two seatings – one at 7 pm and one at 9 pm. Bring a team of up to five people and compete against other smart kids from across the city. Winners get Fatboys, Apple gift cards and Built NY cases for your super nerdy but incredibly useful phones, iPads, Kindles and computers.
Ping Pong with Puma Social @ Park Here | Saturday February 11
Hamilton-Burr duels are not that fun. Ping-Pong duels are fantastic. Saturday February 10, we host Puma Social for a day of table-tennis madness. Two tables, 64 players, and the chance to make history. History! Puma Social will be on hand with a dope bicycle for the champion, Fatboy and Built NY will reward the first, second, third … and maybe fourth-place ping-ponger. We’ll also have one open table for when you’re knocked out or you just want to play around. Get it? Play … a round? Got it. Ticket information coming soon, so get excited. Join the ping-pong madness by getting your ticket before they’re sold out.
