Openhouse Gallery has the best grass in New York City. It’s free, indoors and only available at 201 Mulberry St. in Nolita. That means the pop-up park is back! Park Here is bursting with foliage, colorful murals and plush custom-made grass. It’s Central Park in Spring with a fountain, park benches, bistro tables, hammocks and a slew of imaginative lounge furniture. Through Feb. 15, we’re teaming up with a handful of friends to give Winter the finger. Screw the cold, the Christmas music, the mad rush of the holidays and the brutal cold of Manhattan’s Winter months.
Instead, we kick off the 75-degree pop-up park with RS Fest, Rolling Stone‘s ultimate summer music festival featuring live performances by Dawes, Hacienda, Music Unites Youth Choir, Freelance Whales, Ximena Sarinana, Deer Tick, MNDR and Gary Clark Jr. RS Fest also brings Wines that Rock wine tastings, free BBQ from The Shop Brooklyn, a blogger bar with Acer and Asus computers. Rolling Stone also brought on Seattle-based-but-born-of-a-Brooklyner Starbucks to pour Christmas Blend in the park. It’s free an so is the augmented reality experience the RS team whipped up for the pop-up park.
Throughout Park Here, Openhouse Gallery is bringing in NYC food vendors to serve up tasty dishes and drinks. HK Street Cart, Lizzmonade, Macaron Parlour, Mimi + Coco NY, Perfect Picnic NYC, Snap Food Truck, Stuffed Artisan Cannolis, The Jam Stand, YaYa Tea Garden, Filled with Sweets, Robicelli’s, Nolita Mart and Intoxicating Confections lead a rotation of fresh fare. Keith Klein’s Milk Truck will make surprise visits outside 201 Mulberry St. and ScoutMob will descend on Park Here like SantaClaus providing park guests with free food.
In true pop-up form, Openhouse Gallery’s Park Here is a robust collaboration. Fatboy USA decked out the park with imaginative, colorful lounge chairs; NewGrass is throwing down the plush (70% recycled) custom-made grass; MagicMurals.com provided the spectacular life-sized wall art; American Foliage dressed Park Here with colorful foliage and a booming fountain; and LAFCO/Santa Maria Novella is scenting the pop-up park with luxurious aromas.
Check out the full Park Here schedule at ParkHere.info, which includes a fantastic party and fundraiser for 180 Grados as well as well as a free-beer and photo-op Friday afternoon with Who You Love fashion.
