With one month left to apply to the Next Top Makers Challenge, the New York Economic Development Corporation is canvassing maker meetups throughout the city. On Tuesday, January 22, the EDC pairs up with IDEO for The Business of Design at 3DEA. The event, which features food and drink and a room full of incredibly smart creatives (you’re one of ’em), has free but limited tickets. At The Business of Design, design and consulting firm IDEO will share storytelling insight to help your product capture the imagination of judges, brands and consumers. IDEO has no shortage of stories to tell. Their creative influence is everywhere: Apple’s first mouse, Bank of America’s Keep the Change service, Madden, this nifty Steelcase chair with a backpack-storing base. The EDC will update you on the competition, provide pointers, and Openhouse will discuss the role of designers in 3D printing. Get your tickets before they’re gone!
